Today is International Random Acts of Kindness Day; a day to celebrate and encourage random acts of kindness. As you’ll be spending eight hours of this day within your workplace, we’ve brainstormed 5 ideas for how you can scatter kindness amongst your colleagues and throughout your work place.

1. Compliments are king

Never underestimate the power of a kind word, or appreciative comment. Take the time to notice the effort your colleagues put in, their sparks of creativity, and acts of diligence. Use your imagination with the expression of appreciation; leave some positive anonymous feedback, write a recommendation on Linkedin, tell your manager what a great job your colleagues are doing. In short – spread the love!

2. The way to the heart is through the stomach

DoughnutsIt’s Friday, and we think we’ve all earned some treats! Do the office coffee run unasked, and throw in some doughnuts. These sweet treats are sure to raise smiles and spirits. When 5’o clock rolls around, any leftover cakes or food from the office kitchen can be donated to your local homeless shelter, to pass the good mood onward.

3. Help wanted

HaveHelp you noticed a colleague struggling with a project, or one of those tasks they ‘keep meaning to get round to’. You know what to do! Rally the team to help them get through it, & they can tick off their to do list in no time. When they see you struggling in future, they’re also far more likely to lend a hand.

4. Get social

SocialThis is an act of kindness that will probably raise your spirit too! Take the time to say hello to everyone in your office, from the colleague next to you, to your cleaning assistants and CEO. We guarantee that by taking the time to foster conversation, you’ll learn things you never knew, and make new friends to boot.

5. Gratitude
